Four Seasons – One Business!
For us all the change of season signifies a shift of some kind – even for those living in parts of the world where winter moves to summer with little sign of spring and then back again without an autumn. Maybe we wear more clothes – or less, maybe we plant to engender new life, maybe we hibernate to preserve and renew. Whatever our shifts, the ever-flowing circle of life energies are driven by these seasonal changes.
Reviewing what this can mean to business we can see that the “Winter” season in a business makes a good time for us to take a step back to remember our business journey thus far and learn from our experiences – leading to great future focused thinking and planning. It is a time to crystallise our thoughts into concrete plans.
Then “Spring” kicks in and we start to turn our plans to reality. Spring the season for new life and growth, a time, perhaps, for diversity and new beginnings. It is a season of anticipation and excitement and can lead to renewed team energy IF you plan carefully and communicate vision succinctly.
“Summer” is the season when we can start to enjoy the fruits of our labour, when we can take an overview and see the results of our planning and actions to facilitate growth. How good it will feel to see our team working together towards a common goal with morale and profits skyrocketing as you begin to receive positive feedback on progress!
This feedback leads us towards “Autumn” when we can reflect and evaluate on whether our plans have been successful. Has our previous Winter vision for the future become a reality? Reflect on what we have learned from our experiences. What are the successes we need to replicate? What pitfalls do we need to avoid?
And then, imagine our delight when we realise how much we have achieved and how we can use this knowledge to make our renewed future business plans as Winter crosses our path once more!
